New Journal

Saturday, January 31, 2009

If it smells like a lemon, it's probably a lemon.

I have survived a day that was delivered straight from hell.  It was wrapped in a clever disguise and I eagerly unwrapped it, unaware that I should have sent the day back with a return to sender stamp!

But oh well... when life hands you lemons, you've just gotta sit back and stir that sugary sweet lemonade you just had to make.

1 Chronicles 16:8-11 Give Thanks to the Lord, call on His name; Make known among the nations what He has done. Sing to Him, sing Praise to Him; tell of all His Wonderful Acts. Glory in His Holy Name; let the hearts of those who Seek the Lord Rejoice. Look to the Lord and His Strength; Seek His Face Always.
Luke 18:16-17 But Jesus called the children to him and said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who does not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it."

Collaborative Arts
The greatest natural resource on the planet is the human race itself.
And, in a world in need of ever-increasing care and protection,
the full potential of every individual has never been more in demand.
-Norman Myers

Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we oft might win, by fearing to attempt.
-William Shakespeare from Measure to Measure

Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards. -Kierkegaard

People demand freedom of speech as a compensation for
the freedom of thought which they seldom use. -Kierkegaard

We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean.
But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop. -Mother Teresa

The function of prayer is not to influence God,
but rather to change the nature of the one who prays. -Kierkegaard

Wisdom is knowing what to do next,
skill is knowing how to do it,
and virtue is doing it. -David Starr Jordan

To understand a speech is one thing,
and to understand what it refers to,
namely, the personal, is something else;
for a man to understand what he himself says is one thing,
and to understand himself in what is said is something else.
-Kierkegaard in Concept of Anxiety

I'm sorry, but all questions must be submitted in writing. -Willy Wonka
